Internet Explorer 11: how to open xls and xlsx directly without having the download manager Open prompt

A very annoying feature if you work a lot with Excel and Sharepoint shortcuts.


  • The first time you'll get a small box at the bottom of the screen that asks if you want to open it.
  • All the other times it opens download manager and asks you if you want to open that file.
The only way I found out to make it work was with:
