So what was necessary to do this?
- have your columns with data
- select your columns and choose cut (CTRL-X)
- select an empty row or another worksheet and paste (CTRL-V), change mode to transpose
- copy the row to word
- select table->layout->convert to text
- replace SPACE by nothing
- select the text and copy and paste into the data validation source field
Some info I found but I did not want to use vba and the workaround with word had 2 issues.
